Olga Kovitidi, a senator from Crimea, raised the issue of developing a new coordinated policy to counter foreign influence.
"Today, the implementation of collective security principles of the CSTO Member States is of particular relevance. In the context where foreign agents continue to use the money they receive from abroad to carry out disruptive political activities and other malicious actions aimed at damaging the national security of the CSTO Member States, it becomes more relevant to develop a new coordinated policy in the CSTO area, aimed at harmonizing the legislative solutions of the CSTO members in controlling foreign influence and at settling the already established social relations in this field, which is equally important," stated Olga Kovitidi.
She also noted the need to "jointly, in a consolidated manner, begin to form several organizational and legal mechanisms that will create real tools to exercise control over any kind of foreign influence that harms the interests of the CSTO Member States."
"Obviously, in the current difficult geopolitical context, it is particularly relevant to improve the legal regulation of foreign influence, as it helps to increase the protection of the interests of citizens, society and CSTO Member States," Olga Kovitidi concluded.
