Leonid Kalashnikov: Central Asia is Committed to Good Neighborliness and Сonsolidation in its Policy
On 31 March, the heads of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan signed the Agreement on the State Border Junction Point, as well as the Khujand Declaration of Eternal Friendship.
Leonid Kalashnikov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, noted that the three countries signing the Agreement on the State Border Junction Point is "an important step toward strengthening good-neighborly relations and stability in Central Asia."
"This event not only symbolizes that the countries of the region are willing to cooperate but also demonstrates that they strive to turn the disputed territories into zones of peace and joint development," the parliamentarian said.
Leonid Kalashnikov underlined that Russia has always supported the efforts to strengthen cooperation within the CIS and Eurasian space.
"We see it as a guarantee of stability and prosperity for all countries in the region. I'm sure this example of successful cooperation will be an inspiration for other states striving for peace and development," he concluded.
Trilateral negotiations on the border junction point started in 2007, but a positive outcome has been reached only in 2025. The leaders of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan agreed that the signing of the Agreement on the State Border Junction Point is truly a historic event.
