Russian Foreign Ministry: Russia and Tajikistan share biosecurity approaches
Russian–Tajikistani inter-agency consultations on ensuring biological security reaffirmed the unity of approaches of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan to the problems of biological security, reports the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
Russian–Tajikistani inter-agency consultations were held in Dushanbe on August 16.
Meeting discussed implementation of the bilateral intergovernmental Memorandum of Understanding on Biosecurity, including specific areas for further cooperation.
The meeting also discussed optimizing and enhancing efficiency of implementation of objectives and provisions of this document through the establishment of a relevant consultative mechanism.
The participants exchanged assessments of biological security threats in the CIS space, with an especial focus on military and biological activities on the territory of Ukraine.
The meeting confirmed the unity of approaches of Russia and Tajikistan to biological security. It was noted that there was a need for further close coordination and constructive cooperation both bilaterally and at specialized multilateral platforms, above all within the framework of the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention, CSTO, CIS and SCO.
