Mikayel Tumasyan: We do not observe significant violations during the elections in Belgrade
Mikayel Tumasyan, a member of the Standing Commission on Finance, Credit and Budgetary Affairs of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, member of the CSTO PA Standing Commission on Socioeconomic and Legal Issues, international observer of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly for the Serbian presidential and parliamentary elections, notes that the elections in Serbia are being held today in a calm atmosphere.
“The elections are going on calmly, no irregularities have been noticed so far. There were a couple of technical flaws, which were corrected immediately. People are calm about the process. We have not noticed any aggression. [People] go and vote,” noted Mikayel Tumasyan.
He also noted a gradual increase in turnout at the polling stations: “Even towards noon there were lines at some polling stations. Of course, the weather is a little bit cold, and this fact can affect the turnout, but in general everything is OK,” said Mikayel Tumasyan.
Following the invitation of Ivica Dačić, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, international observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly are participating in the monitoring of the preparations and voting process in the Serbian presidential and early parliamentary elections.
International observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly include representatives of the parliaments of the CSTO Member States: National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Federation Council and State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan.
On the day of the presidential and early parliamentary elections in the Republic of Serbia, international observers from the CSTO PA have been present at polling stations in and around Belgrade, Republic of Serbia, from the opening of polling stations until the end of the vote count.
Since 2013, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia has been an observer to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
