Yuri Fedorov: Election turnout in Serbia is growing, it is already over 15%
Yuri Fedorov, first deputy Chairman of the Economic Policy Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, member of the Standing Commission on Socioeconomic and Legal Issues of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and international observer of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly to the presidential and parliamentary elections in the Republic of Serbia, notes: “So far, everything is in order.”
“We have been up and about since 6:30 a.m., we have arrived at the school named after Peter the First, though not ours, but the Serbian one.” According to Yuri Fedorov, since the polling station opened (which happened on time), there was no increased voter activity, but by about noon the situation changed significantly. “The turnout is now over 15%; people started voting,” said the international observer for the CSTO PA.
Yuri Fedorov noted in particular the order at the polling stations, which he has visited since the opening: “Everything is fine at the polling stations. Ballot papers are in place, party lists are all posted, ballot boxes have everything they need on them – it says that this is a system of three elections: of the President of the Republic of Serbia, of Parliament and of Mayor of Belgrade. So far, everything is in order.”
On the day of the election of the President of the Republic of Serbia and early election to the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, international observers from the CSTO PA work at polling stations in Belgrade and its suburbs, from the opening of polling stations until votes are counted.
Since 2013, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia has been an observer to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
