Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergei Lavrov took part in the round-table discussion CSTO: Strategic Development Guidelines
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergei Lavrov took part in the working lunch and greeted the participants of the round-table discussion CSTO: Strategic Development Guidelines: deputy foreign ministers and ambassadors of the CSTO Member States, CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas, Head of the CSTO Joint Staff Anatoly Sidorov and CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Executive Secretary Sergei Pospelov.
Nikolay Bordyuzha, who were the CSTO Secretary General between 2003 and 2016, also took part in the forum.
The discussion focused on the organization’s development, interactions on external platforms and tasks of implementation of the CSTO model legislation into the national legislation of the Organization’s Member States.
“Your meeting is a good opportunity for an informal, engaged exchange of views on a wide range of issues concerning the role, place and prospects of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. Such work is especially relevant today, when the world affairs remain tense and Member States face numerous cross-border challenges and threats, including the coronavirus pandemic,” Sergei Lavrov said in his speech.
At the round-table discussion, CSTO PA Executive Secretary Sergei Pospelov made a number of proposals concerning the development of model legislation and coordination of actions of parliamentarians of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Member States within other international organizations.
