CSTO PA mission to participate in the monitoring of the Referendum in Kazakhstan
Pursuant to the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan of May 6, 2022 and the order of Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, international observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly will participate in the international monitoring of the voting process at the Referendum of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Fayzullo Barotzoda, Chairman of the Commission of Parliamentary Ethics of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, has been appointed coordinator of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly’s international observers.
The group of international observers from the CSTO PA includes parliamentarians of the CSTO States: representatives from the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Federation Council and State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan.
In the context of monitoring the preparation and the actual voting in the referendum on amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the international observers of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly plan to hold a series of meetings with the leadership of the Mazhilis and the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Federation of Trade Unions and the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On June 5, the day of voting in the Referendum of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, international observers from the CSTO PA will be monitoring polling stations in Nur-Sultan and Almaty from their opening until the end of vote counting.
The CSTO PA international observer group operate on the principles of political neutrality, objectivity, non-interference in the referendum process and compliance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
