Mitskevich: Belarus Is a Security Donor in the Region

Today, September 5, Minsk is hosting a session of the Coordination Meeting of Chairpersons of Committees (Commissions) on Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States under the CSTO PA Council. 

Prior to the meeting, the members met with Valery Mitskevich, deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.

“The situation in the world is unpredictable now. And we should be ready to answer the emerging questions together,” Mr Mitskevich said.

He also emphasised the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the CSTO countries.

Valery Mitskevich called Belarus “a security donor in the region” and thanked the representatives of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly for effective joint work. 

On 6 September, Wednesday, the members of the Coordination Meeting will take part as observers in the joint exercise Vzaimodeystviye 2023 with the CSTO Collective Security Treaty Organization in order to monitor the military and political situation in the CSTO East European region of collective security and to identify the needs for improving the regulatory support for the military security of the CSTO Member States.
