Mukhtar Tleuberdi: The attack on Nur-Sultan was averted thanks to CSTO peacekeepers
Mukhtar Tleuberdi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, believes that the attack on Kazakhstan’s capital city was prevented thanks to the prompt actions of peacekeepers from the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
He said this in an interview with a group of European media published by the Euractiv (Brussels) online portal.
According to the portal, Mukhtar Tleuberdi made it clear that the attack on Nur-Sultan was averted thanks to the CSTO peacekeeping forces, which guarded most state institutions, including, for example, the National Bank.
As for seeking help from the Government of the People’s Republic of China, Mukhtar Tleuberdi said there was no legal basis for this, although “from day one, the Chinese government has been in contact at the presidential level, and I was in touch with Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
They were ready to provide the necessary assistance... But we have no legal basis to accept foreign forces from countries and organizations other than the CSTO,” Sputnik Kazakhstan quoted the Euractiv portal as saying.
