CSTO PA observers were briefed in the Kazakh Defence Ministry on the situation in the Central Asian region of the Organization’s area of responsibility
As part of monitoring of the referendum campaign of the Republic of Kazakhstan on introducing amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, international observers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization coordinated by Fayzullo Barotzoda, Chairman of the Commission on Parliamentary Ethics of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, met with the leadership of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Lieutenant General Sultan Kamaletdinov, deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, briefed the observers on the situation in the Central Asian region of the CSTO area of responsibility.
As you may recall, the group of international observers from the CSTO PA was composed of parliamentarians of the Organization’s Member States: representatives from the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Federation Council and State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Today, on June 3, as part of monitoring of preparation and the voting process itself at the referendum of the Republic of Kazakhstan on introducing amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, international observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly are planning to meet with the leadership of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and also to hold a number of meetings on June 4 to review the preparation for the voting at the constitutional referendum.
International observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly observe the preparation and progress of voting at the referendum of the Republic of Kazakhstan on introducing amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan following the invitation of the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs of May 6, 2022 and the instruction of Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
On June 5, Election Day, CSTO PA international observers will be observing polling stations in the cities of Nur-Sultan and Almaty, from the time of their opening until the end of the vote count.
The work of the CSTO PA international observer group is based on the principles of political neutrality, objectivity, non-interference in the referendum process and compliance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
