Kazakh CEC briefed CSTO PA international observers on referendum preparations
As part of monitoring the preparation and voting at the constitutional referendum in the Republic of Kazakhstan, CSTO PA observers met with Konstantin Petrov, deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan, and Mukhtar Erman, Secretary of the Kazakh CEC.
“We are happy to welcome you, people that are dear to us. We always follow all international obligations. We are glad to have a wide representation of international observers, especially from such a reputable organization as the CSTO PA,” said Konstantin Petrov opening the meeting.
In turn, Faizullo Barotzoda, CSTO PA observers’ coordinator, Chairman of the Commission for Parliamentary Ethics of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, assured representatives of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan that international observers from the CSTO PA operate based on the principles of political neutrality, objectivity, non-interference in the referendum and observation of laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Representatives of the Kazakh CEC told the observers about the peculiarities of the referendum campaign, preparation and conduct of the campaign, peculiarities of voting at the referendum and answered observers’ questions.
As you may recall, following the invitation of the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs of May 6, 2022 and the instruction of Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO PA and Chairman of the Russian State Duma, international observers from the CSTO PA take part in the international observation of the preparation and voting at the referendum in the Republic of Kazakhstan on introducing amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan
On June 5, the voting day, international observers from the CSTO PA will observe polling stations in Nur-Sultan and Almaty, from the time of their opening until the end of the vote count.
