CSTO Operation Nelegal 2023 Revealed About 100,000 Violations of Migration Legislation
On June 19–25 and on October 2–8 this year, CSTO carried out preventive operation Nelegal 2023.
The purpose of the operation was to take measures to stabilize the migration situation in the territory of the CSTO Member States and to achieve practical goals of identifying and suppressing illegal migration and eliminating channels for the unlawful legalization of foreign nationals.
During the period of the preventive operation, some 96,000 violations of migration legislation were revealed, including more than 73,000 violations of the rules of entry, exit, transit passage and stay (residence) of foreign nationals and more than 22,000 violations of the procedure for the employment of foreign nationals.
Some 15,000 decisions on administrative expulsion or deportation were taken against foreign nationals. In the course of the measures taken, some 3,600 criminal cases were opened in connection with the organization of illegal migration, illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and illicit trafficking in weapons. 447 persons who were on the international wanted list were detected.
As you may recall, the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly pays considerable attention to the harmonization of the legislation of the CSTO Member States in the area of migration policy in general and combating illegal migration in particular. Recommendations on the Issues of Refugees and Asylum Seekers, Recommendations on Creating a Positive Image of Labour Migrants in CSTO Member States, Recommendations on Improving the National Legislation of CSTO Member States on Pensions for Labour Migrants and others have been developed and adopted.
