Putin: Kazakhstan’s Initiatives to Strengthen CSTO’s potential
In an interview with the Kazakhstanskaya pravda newspaper, published on the Kremlin website on November 8, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, said that Kazakhstan’s initiatives will strengthen the potential of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) during Kazakhstan’s presidency.
“Next year will be marked by Kazakhstan’s chairmanship of the Organization. I am convinced that the initiatives of Kazakhstan's partners will strengthen the potential of the CSTO and will contribute to improving its capabilities in the interests of all Member States,” the Russian leader said.
He also stressed that the CSTO has demonstrated its effectiveness in addressing its tasks and cited the events of January 2022, when the Organization made a significant contribution to maintaining internal political stability in Kazakhstan.
As you may recall, the military and political alliance includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. The chairmanship next year will pass from the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
