During his speech at the meeting of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly on December 9, Igor Sergeyenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, suggested to send representatives of the CSTO PA to observe the upcoming presidential election in the Republic.
His initiative was supported by Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO PA and Chairman of the State Duma of Russia.
“Let us make a decision to send our representatives from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization as observers to the presidential election in the Republic of Belarus,” he said.
Vyacheslav Volodin pointed out that representatives of the CSTO PA regularly take part in election observation in the Organization's Member States.
This suggestion was also supported by other participants of the meeting.
The presidential election in Belarus is scheduled for January 26, 2025.
