CSTO PA parliamentarians work together on the margins of the Inter-Parliamentary Union
On March 24, the 148th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) continues its work in Geneva, where parliamentary delegations of the CSTO Member States are working together.
Hundreds of parliamentarians from all over the world arrived in Switzerland to discuss the theme "Parliamentary diplomacy: Building bridges for peace and understanding".
At the beginning of the session, a minute of silence was held in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack in Russia.
Aigul Kuspan, Chairperson of the IPU Standing Committee on Peace and International Security, chaired one of the plenary discussions.
During the discussion, the participants discussed the issues of controlling the application of artificial intelligence in the field of security.
Leonid Slutsky, head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, spoke about controlling lethal weapon systems with artificial intelligence.
"It is important for all of us to take into account not only the potential risks, but also the obvious advantage of such technologies related to the use of artificial intelligence. However, this issue should be considered only through systematic work on the margins of the structures created by the Convention on 'inhumane' weapons," Mr. Slutsky noted.
Parliamentarians of all countries noted synchronization of national legislations as an important task.
All these issues were reflected in the final resolution.
As you may recall, the IPU consists of 178 countries, including the CSTO Member States. Live broadcast from the Assembly is available at: ipu.org/148.
