Parliaments of Belarus and Russia will develop model laws
The Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia at the 61st session of the Parliamentary Assembly proposed to start work on model legislation within the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.
“At the 59th session of the Parliamentary Assembly, we have decided to look at possible new forms of the Union State development in terms of using the potential of model lawmaking and instructed our Commission on Legislation and Rules of Procedure to prepare draft amendments to the Parliamentary Assembly Rules of Procedure aimed at regulating the process of preparation, consideration and adoption of model legislative acts,” Vyacheslav Volodin noted. “According to Article 70 of the PA Rules of Procedure, amendments to the rules of procedure are adopted by a Parliamentary Assembly decree taking into account the conclusion of the Commission on Legislation and Rules of Procedure.”
The session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia supported the Chairman’s proposal.
As you may recall, the main task of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization is approximation and harmonization of national legislations through model lawmaking in compliance with the decisions of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia is an observer to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
The CSTO PA has assisted its colleagues from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia by sharing its methods of model lawmaking.
The 61st session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia took place on December 2 in Minsk, Republic of Belarus.
