CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Celebrates its 18th Anniversary
The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly celebrates its 18th anniversary on November 16.
Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, praised the achievements of the CSTO interparliamentary body and congratulated all those involved on the holiday.
“Today the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization celebrates its 18th anniversary.
The leaders of our states created the CSTO as an organization ensuring regional security, which is the basis for the sustainable development of our countries. For 18 years, the Parliamentary Assembly has been the embodiment of CSTO's inter-parliamentary cooperation; it represents the interests of the citizens of the CSTO states and works on the approximation and harmonization of security legislation.
Our main task is to provide legislative support for the decisions of the heads of CSTO Member States. Over the years, the Parliamentary Assembly has become an important institution to exchange the best legislative practices, conduct parliamentary monitoring of the political and military situation and interact on international platforms.
Now, in times of new geopolitical challenges and the breakdown of the international security system, the constructive dialog of parliamentarians and the unity of our positions are of particular importance.
I would like to thank all our colleagues in the CSTO parliaments who are working every day to create the legal foundations for strengthening security. Together we are creating a legal basis for a secure and prosperous future of our countries.
We look forward with confidence, continuing to strengthen cooperation and trust between our peoples. Let every new decision be aimed at achieving peace and stability in our common home.”
