Kazakhstan and Tajikistan’s parliaments will increase cooperation
Signing of the Cooperation Agreement between the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan during the visit of Rustam Emomali, Chairman of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, to the Republic of Kazakhstan will give new impetus to the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
The document involves the establishment of a standing Commission on Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation.
The Chairman of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan was received by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the visit, Rustam Emomali also met with Mäulen Äşımbaev, Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Nurlan Nigmatulin, Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As reported by Kazinform news agency, in his speech Mäulen Äşımbaev emphasized the strong links between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan based on the centuries-old ties of brotherhood and friendship between the peoples and a reliable strategic partnership and alliance between the two states.
In turn, Rustam Emomali stressed that cooperation with Kazakhstan is a priority in Tajikistan’s foreign policy. Chairman of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli said that he attached great importance to strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation.
The meeting participants discussed the issue of Afghanistan. The parties agreed that achievement of stability in Afghanistan is the most important factor of regional security and expressed their readiness for active interaction and cooperation in this area. Mäulen Äşımbaev noted that the Republic of Kazakhstan supports the establishment of Afghanistan as a peaceful and independent state, free from terrorism and drugs.
