Pyotr Tolstoy urged his colleagues from the parliamentary delegations of the CSTO Member States not to support anti-Russian resolutions during the OSCE PA session
During the Coordination Meeting of representatives of parliamentary delegations of the CSTO Member States to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly that was held remotely and was chaired by Mahmadali Mahmadullo Vatanzoda, first deputy Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan and head of the parliamentary delegation of Tajikistan to the OSCE PA, the head of the Russian Federal Assembly’s delegation to the OSCE PA Pyotr Tolstoy urged his colleagues from the parliamentary delegations of the CSTO States not to support anti-Russian resolutions.
Pyotr Tolstoy emphasized that the Russian parliamentary delegation to the OSCE PA continues to believe that the main thing in the OSCE PA’s work “is a unifying and not confrontational agenda” and underscored that the Russian delegation is against confrontational rhetoric, but at the same time noted the understanding that the upcoming OSCE PA session will be tense as never before “precisely because of the systematic attack against the Russian Federation now being conducted on all fronts.”
Pyotr Tolstoy recalled that “the Russian delegation has experience of resisting such attempts; we will respond to these things calmly and with facts in our hands,” but noted that Russia, being the largest country of such an alliance as the CSTO, is the first under such attack, “but there is no doubt that if we fail to repel this attack, all other CSTO States will be next in line” and asked the delegations to take a balanced stance and not support statements and resolutions with anti-Russian content.
As you may recall, the winter OSCE PA session is planned for February 24–26 via videoconferencing.
The Coordination Meeting was attended by the heads of the parliamentary delegations of the CSTO States to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly: the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan.
