Border guards of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will patrol the border together
The patrolling of the Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan border will be done jointly by the parties.
According to 24 kg news agency, on the night of January 27–28, representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan agreed on a complete ceasefire, withdrawal of additional forces and assets, which had been drawn to the border, opening of traffic on the road from Batken to Isfana and joint patrolling of border areas in order to prevent conflicts.
The power supply in the Batken region of the Kyrgyz Republic is reported to be restored.
We remind that on the night of January 27–28, Stanislav Zas, Secretary General of Collective Security Treaty Organization, held telephone talks with Nasrullo Mahmudzoda, Secretary of Security Council of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Marat Imankulov, Secretary of Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic, during which the CSTO Secretary General called for an immediate ceasefire on the border of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan. This was reported by the official website of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
“The renewed hostilities on the border, which resulted in wounded, are of serious concern. The armed confrontation on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border must stop immediately. The conflict must be resolved exclusively through peaceful negotiations. The CSTO is ready to provide Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan with the necessary assistance in resolving this conflict. I am confident that the leadership of both CSTO Member States will find mutually acceptable ways to resolve this complicated border issue,” reads the statement of the CSTO Secretary General released by the press service after the telephone talks.
