Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO PA, congratulated Nursultan Nazarbayev, First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with his anniversary
Nursultan Nazarbayev, the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Elbasy (leader of the nation) and Chairman of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, celebrates his anniversary today.
He is a politician of global standing who stood at the origins of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and has been leading the Republic of Kazakhstan for nearly three decades.
“You have devoted your life to serving the Republic of Kazakhstan and its citizens. Your contribution to development of strategic partnership between Russia and Kazakhstan, strengthening of friendship between our peoples, promotion of integrated cooperation and stronger security in the Eurasian space deserves deep respect,” noted in his anniversary greetings Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
Nursultan Nazarbayev was born on July 6, 1940 in the village of Chemolgan, Kaskelensky district, Alma-Ata region, Kazakh SSR (now Ushkonyr village, Karasai district, Republic of Kazakhstan) in a peasant family. In 1967, he graduated from the evening department of a Karaganda Steel Mill technical college, specializing in Metal Engineering; in 1976, he graduated by correspondence from the Higher Party School at the CPSU Central Committee.
In 1989, Nazarbayev was elected First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan. In February 1990, he was elected Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR, and in April of the same year, after the republic established the post of President, he was elected first President of Kazakhstan. In May 2010, the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan adopted a constitutional law granting Nazarbayev the status of Elbasy, leader of the nation.
Mr Nazarbayev, who had been Kazakhstan’s leader for almost three decades, resigned as head of state on March 19, 2019. At the same time, he retained the posts of Chairman of the republic’s Security Council and of the ruling Nur Otan party (“Light of the Fatherland”), as well as a member of the Constitutional Council, and in May last year was granted the status of an honorary senator.
Nursultan Nazarbayev heads the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, and is also the Honorary Chairman of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
According to TASS, as the anniversary date approaches, the mass media of the Republic of Kazakhstan increasingly began publishing materials about the First President.
On July 2, an article was published by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who stressed that Nursultan Nazarbayev should become a role model in the education of the younger generations of Kazakhstanis. He also reminded that Nazarbayev devoted his entire life to strengthening of Kazakhstan. “Abroad, he is well known and respected as the founder and leader of modern-day Kazakhstan. The state activity of the First President is recognized unconditionally. I can assert it with full responsibility as a witness of Elbasy’s many international meetings and negotiations with foreign delegations. He is well known all over the world, he enjoys wide recognition from the international community and unquestionable authority in global politics.”
Nurlan Nigmatulin, Chairman of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Viktor Rogalev, deputy Executive Secretary of the CSTO PA and Plenipotentiary Representative of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, shared their memories of working with Nursultan Nazarbayev, First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Elbasy and Chairman of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan. https://kazpravda.kz/articles/view/lider-operedivshii-vremya http://inkaraganda.kz/articles/158365
