Chairpersons of the defence and security commissions of the parliaments of CSTO States discussed military cooperation within the Organization
A session of the Coordination Meeting of the Chairpersons of the Committees (Commissions) on Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States under the Council of the CSTO PA took place in a hybrid format on October 20 at the Parliamentary Centre in St Petersburg under the chairmanship of Rustam Shokhmurod, Chairman of the Coordination Meeting, Chairman of the Committee on Law, Defence and Security of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Participants of the meeting listened to the report of Oleg Latypov, deputy Head of the Military Security Issues Department of the CSTO Secretariat, on the current state and prospects of military cooperation within the CSTO.
Armen Khachatryan, deputy Chairman of the Standing Commission on Defence and Security of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, presented information on the current military and political situation in the Caucasus region of CSTO’s area of collective responsibility, based on development trends and outlooks.
A report titled Modern Challenges and Threats Related to the Activity of International Terrorist Organizations in the Central Asian Region. Possible Transformation Directions was delivered by Aibek Kutmanov, deputy Head of the CIS Antiterrorist Centre.
