Representatives of Kazakhstan’s Parliament commemorated the Kazakhs who defended Leningrad

 

Askhat Nuskabay, deputy Secretary General of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Council and Plenipotentiary Representative of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Viktor Rogalev, deputy Executive Secretary of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and Plenipotentiary Representative of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, honoured the memory of the citizens and defenders of Leningrad. Today at the Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery they laid flowers at the foot of the Motherland monument and the memorial stone to the Kazakhs who died during the defence of Leningrad and the breach of the enemy blockade.
Representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan paid tribute to Aliya Moldagulova, Hero of the Soviet Union, and the great Kazakh akyn (poet) Zhambyl Zhabayev, author of the poem “Leningraders, my children! Leningraders, my pride!” praising the heroic deeds of citizens and defenders of besieged Leningrad.
