Russian President announces increased combat capabilities of troops at Ministry of Defence board meeting
Today, December 21, President Vladimir Putin chaired an expanded meeting of the board of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation.
“Today our task is to implement all the necessary measures to upgrade and improve the quality of the Armed Forces,” Russian President stressed.
Vladimir Putin instructed the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces to carefully analyse the experience gained during the Special Operation, “systematize it as quickly as possible and include it in programmes and plans for the training of personnel and troops as a whole and the supply of necessary equipment to the troops.”
The Russian leader noted that the experience of the Special Operation, as well as practical skills gained in Syria, should become “the basis for serious improvement of combat training, including use in the preparation and conduct of exercises and drills at all levels.”
As you may recall, following the meeting with heads of base institutions training military personnel for the CSTO Member States that took place at the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces in the summer of 2022, Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, said that “joint training is carried out in four CSTO Member States: the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation.” About 2,600 servicemen of the CSTO Member States train annually in more than 750 specialties in the joint training system in 58 military educational institutions, and “the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces is the leader among the basic training, methodological and research organizations of the CSTO Member States and the base institution in the area of personnel training.”
