Since early in the morning, the Russian leader has been receiving congratulatory telegrams and phone calls from his foreign colleagues. And in the evening, he has a scheduled meeting with the heads of state of the CIS.
Vladimir Putin received the first official congratulation from Aleksandr Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus. He wished his counterpart good health and longevity, happiness and success in state activities, noting his “deep understanding of Russia's historical mission” and “personal responsibility for the fate of the people and the Fatherland.
October 7 is also a memorable date for the CSTO. On this day in 2002, the CSTO Charter was signed in Chisinau establishing the most important international organization, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, which has proved itself to be a crucial mechanism for ensuring peace and stability in the vast Eurasian space.
