CSTO PA Standing Commission on Political Affairs and International Cooperation will assess the work on standards for democratic elections in CSTO states and their protection against foreign interference
On March 18, a meeting of the CSTO PA Standing Commission on Political Affairs and International Cooperation will take place at the Parliamentary Centre (53, Shpalernaya street) in St Petersburg.
The agenda of the meeting of the Standing Commission includes the following items:
– On the results of the meeting of the chairmen of the committees (commissions) of the parliaments of the CSTO Member States on international relations (February 9–10, 2022, Moscow);
– On the Statement of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Regarding the Migration Crisis at the Belarus–EU border (December 2, 2021);
– On the Statement of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Inadmissibility of Discrimination against Russian Compatriots in the United States of America, approved by the Resolution of December 7, 2021;
– On the Statement of the State Duma of Federal Assembly of Russian Federation On Inadmissibility of Discrimination of Russian Compatriots in the Republic of Latvia, approved by the Resolution of December 17, 2021.
Dmitry Novikov, deputy Chairman of the Committee, deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Committee on International Affairs, will report on these issues to the committee members.
Aleksei Sandykov, a member of the Standing Committee on Regional Affairs and Eurasian Integration of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, will report on the results of participation of the international observation group of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in monitoring the election of deputies to Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic (November 28, 2021).
Bayir Zhamsuev, deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, will brief his colleagues on the Statement of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on the need to unite efforts of the international community in combating terrorism, approved by the Resolution of September 22, 2021.
Pyotr Koronevsky, head of the Department of Political Cooperation of the CSTO Secretariat, will share information on the situation in the CSTO area of responsibility and measures to counter challenges and threats to collective security.
Igor Borisov, a member of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Council of the Russian Public Institute of Election Law, will speak on the progress in implementing the resolution of the fourteenth plenary session of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly On Standards for Democratic Elections in the CSTO Member States and Their Protection Against Foreign Interference of November 29, 2021.
The session will discuss a number of issues, including the progress of implementation of priorities of the Republic of Armenia’s presidency in the Collective Security Treaty Organization in 2022. Parliamentarians will also discuss the coordination meeting of the heads of parliamentary delegations of the CSTO Member States to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (February 18, 2022) and the outcome of the work of parliamentary delegations of the CSTO Member States at the 21st Winter Meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (February 24–25, 2022, Vienna).
