Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh continue demining and equip checkpoints
Russian peacekeepers continue engineering reconnaissance and demining operations in the Russian peacekeeping forces’ zone of responsibility in Nagorno-Karabakh. They also continue equipping checkpoints in the Lachin corridor, website of the Russian Ministry of Defence reports.
Russian peacekeepers carried out engineering reconnaissance and demining in the area of Stepanakert airport, searched for explosive objects in private gardens, road sections and territories adjacent to the airport.
In one day, they cleared about 8 hectares of land and 7 km of roads, inspected 50 buildings, identified and removed 51 explosive objects for destruction.
Altogether, engineer units cleared more than 155 hectares of land, over 38 kilometers of roads and 375 buildings; found and neutralized 4,811 explosive objects in Nagorno-Karabakh.
At the same time, Russian peacekeepers monitor and enforce the ceasefire regime around the clock and set up checkpoints in the Lachin corridor.
Watch posts are equipped with Blokpost fortifications designed to protect troops from small arms and shrapnel and to maintain an all-round observation of the surrounding area.
The security of civilian vehicular traffic and movement of residents through the Lachin corridor, transportation of food and various goods, escorting and ensuring the safety of repair teams restoring the infrastructure facilities.
