Russian Servicemen Conducted Counter-Terrorism Training in Kyrgyzstan
During a counter-terrorism training, servicemen of the Russian military base in Kyrgyzstan have prevented an attack of a simulated enemy on a petroleum, oil, and lubricants storage, the Russian Ministry of Defence reported.
As part of the exercise, the servicemen were given information about a possible attack of an illegal armed group on the POL storage with the aim of seizing it. The anti-terrorist group, supported by BTR-82A, immediately headed to the alleged site to prevent the “enemy” from breaking through and to neutralize it. Upon arrival, they assessed the situation and promptly made a decision to liquidate the prepared attack of the illegal armed group.
At the same time, the field engineers checked the area for improvised explosive devices and examined the "enemy's" vehicle. Medical instructors practised delivering first aid and evacuating a wounded serviceman.
Special attention was paid to the coherence and efficiency of the personnel's actions, as well as their skills in handling weapons, special and military equipment, reconnaissance, surveillance and communications. About 60 servicemen and up to 10 units of special equipment participated in the training.
As you may recall, Article 8 of the CSTO Charter stipulates that Member States shall coordinate and join efforts to fight against manifestations of international terrorism and extremism. The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly has a considerable positive experience in unifying the legislation of the Organization's Member States to combat terrorist threats.
