Head of the CSTO PA Mission Discussed Election Observation with Chairman of the Belarusian CEC
International observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly (CSTO PA) continue their work in Minsk, monitoring the preparation and holding of the presidential election in the Republic of Belarus, scheduled for January 26, 2025.
Victoria Abramchenko, head of the mission and Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, emphasized that all presidential candidates note the important role of the CEC and the absolute transparency of the elections, with a large number of media involved to cover the entire process.
The observers have already held meetings with presidential candidates, representative of the incumbent President, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus and heads of the chambers of the Belarusian parliament.
At the meeting with Igor Karpenko, head of the CEC, Victoria Abramchenko emphasized the importance of involving international observers to build confidence in the election results both among the citizens of Belarus and in the international arena. She expressed confidence that all processes would be organized in strict compliance with the national legislation and adopted international standards.
In turn, Igor Karpenko noted the high interest of the citizens in the election campaign, which is fully compliant with the legislation in place.
As you may recall, the election observation is being carried out at the invitation of Natalia Kochanova, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, and Igor Sergeyenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives on the instructions of Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO PA and Chairman of the State Duma of Russia.
On the day of voting, the delegation of CSTO parliamentarians will monitor the elections at polling stations since their opening till the end of the tabulation of voting results.
