A humanitarian demining company of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh continues to clear territories from explosive objects.
According to the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Russian Ministry of Defence, since November 23, 2020, 1,739 hectares of land, 541 kilometers of roads and 1,614 buildings (including 30 key infrastructure facilities) have been cleared of unexploded ordnance during the demining operations. In total, Russian peacekeepers found and deactivated 25,349 explosive objects.
Explosive ordnance found by sappers was removed and destroyed at the specially equipped Ballyja firing range.
Ammunition that cannot be evacuated is destroyed on site observing all necessary safety measures for blasting.
In accordance with the agreement specified in the joint statement of the President of the Russian Federation, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, a full ceasefire and cessation of all military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh were declared from 00:00 Moscow time on November 10, 2020.
Restoration of vital utilities in the areas affected by the hostilities continues with the assistance of Russian peacekeepers.
