Sadyr Japarov: Common efforts are needed to combat information crimes
At the 6th summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), the President of the Kyrgyz Republic called for more active joint efforts to fight information-related threats.
“There is a growing variety of illegal acts committed through the use of information and communication technologies, which are reaching the global and transnational level,” 24.kg agency quotes Sadyr Japarov.
According to him, in such circumstances, the countries need common efforts and extensive cooperation to combat them. He stressed that the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic notes the significant role of information and communication technologies (ICT) in socioeconomic development and implements programmes that meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
As for the CICA framework, the Kyrgyz side stands ready to implement the provisions of the leaders’ statement on cooperation in the field of ICT security and its use.
“I believe that the problem of ensuring security in the region, facilitating the reconstruction of Afghanistan, implementing major regional infrastructure projects in various spheres of life of the countries should remain the priorities within the framework of our platform,” Sadyr Japarov noted.
The President of the Kyrgyz Republic called for the intensification of international efforts not only to combat terrorism and extremism, but also transnational organized crime engaged in drug, arms and human trafficking and money laundering in cyberspace.
Within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Kyrgyz Republic is working on the issue of establishing in Bishkek a centre to counteract international organized crime.
