Today Marks the 21st Anniversary of the CSTO Joint Staff Establishment
April 28 marks the 21st anniversary of the establishment of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
In 2003, in Dushanbe, the Collective Security Council decided to establish the CSTO Joint Staff as a permanent working body.
The Joint Staff is responsible for the formation, functioning and deployment of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces), preparation and holding of joint operational and combat training activities, military and technical cooperation, coordination of training of personnel and specialists for the armed forces of the CSTO Member States, as well as management of the Crisis Response Centre.
The main task of the Joint Staff is to implement the decisions of the heads of CSTO Member States and heads of defence agencies on the development of the Organization's military component.
CSTO parliamentarians and members of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Secretariat actively participate both in the activities of the CSTO Joint Staff in Moscow and in joint military exercises.
Exercises are planned for the fall of 2024 in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
