CSTO PA Secretariat and the University of the State Fire Fighting Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Signed a Cooperation Agreement

On January 16, at the headquarters of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly in St. Petersburg, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the St. Petersburg University of the State Fire Fighting Service (SFFS) of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation named after Army General Evgeniy Zinichev, Hero of the Russian Federation.

As you may recall, this specialized educational and scientific institution is designated by the Russian EMERCOM as the leading scientific institution studying legal aspects of emergency prevention.

“Signing an agreement with the St. Petersburg University of the SFFS of the Russian EMERCOM is an important step towards strengthening the scientific foundations and legal regulation in the field of emergency prevention. Joint efforts will allow us to overcome security challenges facing our states in a more efficient way,” said Sergei Pospelov, Executive Secretary of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.

Bogdan Gavkalyuk, Head of the St. Petersburg University of the SFFS of the Russian EMERCOM and Lieutenant General of the Internal Service, emphasized the importance of this agreement for further development of scientific research and increasing the efficiency of work in the field of emergency prevention and response.

Over 15 years of cooperation between the CSTO PA and the University, around 10 different recommendations regulating emergency prevention and response have been developed. Some of them were developed by the University.
