On April 27, 2020, Sergei Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, gave a remote lecture to MGIMO students.
Speaking about working amidst the pandemic and the international situation, Russian Foreign Minister could not but touch upon the topic of countering attempts to glorify Nazism.
“Unfortunately, we keep seeing attempts to rewrite history. The Russian Foreign Ministry, together with other governmental agencies of the Russian Federation and relying on our archives, is doing whatever is required to counter these destructive intentions and to prevent the revision of the international legal outcomes of the Second World War, including the decisions of the Nuremberg Tribunal,” said Sergei Lavrov.
The absolute majority of international community members shares this stance, which is confirmed by the UN General Assembly resolution on the inadmissibility of the glorification of Nazism that is adopted annually by an overwhelming majority of votes.
“Leaders of the CIS countries adopted a relevant statement which has been circulated at the UN. The CSTO is also working in this area,” Sergei Lavrov emphasized.
