Sergei Ryabkov: Moscow Supports Astana's Application to Join BRICS
Moscow supports Astana's application to join BRICS, declared Sergei Ryabkov, deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, representing the state in this international association.
“BRICS will add value to [our bilateral] cooperation. Russia certainly supports Kazakhstan's candidacy,” he noted.
Mr. Ryabkov pointed out that Kazakhstan and Russia are also Member States of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
“We certainly interact with our closest ally and neighbor on numerous platforms. And this interaction is absolutely efficient everywhere... We are allies in the CSTO, and we have a lot of activities to strengthen common security,” the deputy Foreign Minister emphasized.
As you may recall, in 2024, the Collective Security Treaty Organization is chaired by the Republic of Kazakhstan. On June 3, Almaty hosted the meeting of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, discussing harmonization of legislation and measures to counter challenges and threats to the security of the CSTO Member States.
