On 19 July in New York, the Russian Federation, as part of its presidency of the UN Security Council, held a debate on “Cooperation between the United Nations and regional and subregional organizations in maintaining international peace and security: the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO)”.
Imangali Tasmagambetov, CSTO Secretary General, took part in the debate.
He noted the Organization's openness to joint actions on the formation of the Eurasian security architecture and presented a vision of ways and means to further strengthen the CSTO's interaction with specialized UN structures on the basis of universally recognized norms and principles of international law.
