The CSTO PA Council Adopted a Statement on the Development of Artificial Intelligence Technologies
On June 3, the Statement of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization on the Development of Artificial Intelligence Technologies was adopted in Almaty.
“We declare our intention to do everything in the power of the CSTO Member States to create a convenient jurisdiction in the CSTO area of responsibility for the purpose of AI development. We note the relevance of developing recommendations for the CSTO Member States to create mutually beneficial principles for the development of national legislation on creating and using big data and on creation of artificial intelligence and robotics to ensure national security,” reads the text of the Statement published on the website of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
The document notes that examination of issues of international regulation of development and application of AI in the civil sphere “should be carried out under the auspices of the UN in an interstate format, based on due consideration of the interests of all countries of the world”.
As you may recall, today Almaty hosts the regular meeting of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. In 2024, the Organization is chaired by the Republic of Kazakhstan.
