Federation Council Supports the Ratification of a CSTO Troops Support Agreement
On September 25, an enlarged session of the Council of the Federation Committee on the Federal Structure, Regional Policies, Local Self-Governance and Affairs of the North endorsed a law establishing a legal framework for the provision of medical assistance to the CSTO troops.
As you may recall, on September 19 this year, the State Duma ratified an agreement on joint logistical and medical support for the troops (collective forces) of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
The agreement states that in the absence of military medical entities of the Russian Ministry of Defence in a region of the Russian Federation during the deployment, use and the regrouping of CSTO troops, medical support, medical evacuation and disease control (preventive) measures are carried out by the regular forces and assets of the medical service of the sending Parties’ formations in cooperation with the military medical entities of the Russian defence ministry.
