Tasmagambetov: CSTO Commitment to Unifying Agenda Remains Unchanged
In Minsk on October 26, Imangali Tasmagambetov, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, spoke at the international conference Eurasian Security: Reality and Prospects in a Transforming World.
The CSTO Secretary General noted that the lack of dialogue between the leading world powers on the whole range of threats to international security inevitably leads to an increasing number of new crisis situations with predictable consequences. In turn, the CSTO is “invariably committed to the unifying agenda.”
“It is not the first year that specialists have noted the growth of military and political tension in Eurasia. In such an environment of strategic instability, numerous dormant conflicts are moving into a hot phase and new ones are emerging,” Mr Tasmagambetov emphasized.
According to him, “the situation requires increased attention of all global and regional centres without exception, including military and political alliances.”
As you may recall, the proposal to hold such a conference was voiced by Aleksandr Lukashenko in November 2022 at a CSTO summit in Yerevan.
