In his report at the meeting of the CSTO PA Standing Commission on Political Affairs and International Cooperation, Umakhan Umakhanov, coordinator of the CSTO PA group of international observers and a deputy of the State Duma, noted the high level of organization of the election to the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. “The election to the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan was organized and held at the highest level,” said Mr Umakhanov, a State Duma member and deputy Chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, at a meeting of the Standing Commission.
The coordinator of the CSTO PA observer group specifically mentioned that during the COVID-19 pandemic the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan “organized everything very precisely, all public-health standards were strictly observed” and drew particular attention to the high level of preparation and organization of the election process, as well as the work of volunteers who helped the elderly and people with disabilities at the polling stations.
The election to the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held on January 10, 2021.
Observers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization monitored the election to the Mazhilis of the Parliament on the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
