In 2020, the peoples of the world celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Victory over fascism in the Second World War

In CSTO Member States, this is a special date to commemorate the Victory of the peoples of the Soviet Union in the Great Patriotic War, whose contribution determined the outcome of the entire Second World War.
Heroism in the war that claimed the lives of more than twenty-seven million sons and daughters of our peoples will forever remain in the memory of generations.
It is our common duty to defend the historical truth about the Great Victory, to preserve and pass on to future generations the memory of the utmost example of heroism and sacrifice of representatives of all our peoples, regardless of their nationality, citizenship and religion.
People of 70 nationalities became heroes of the Soviet Union then. The title of the Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded to 11,657 persons, 3051 of them were awarded posthumously, for feats of valour in the Great Patriotic War. 104 persons became Heroes of the Soviet Union twice; three persons (Georgy Zhukov, Ivan Kozhedub, Aleksandr Pokryshkin) became Heroes thrice.

On the eve of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory, we are going to tell you about the heroes of the Great Patriotic War from the former republics of the Soviet Union, and now the CSTO Member States, using the platforms of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
