On April 16, deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan held a visiting session on the base of the Military Engineering Institute of Radio Electronics and Communications in Almaty.
The event was attended by members of the Senate of the Parliament, including Sergei Ershov, member of the Standing Commission of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly on Defence and Security, as well as representatives of the National Security Committee, Ministries of Defence, Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry.
During their visit to the military university, the senators saw the cyber polygon, the cyber security training program, modern means of information protection control and technical projects of the students.
The senators emphasized the need to improve the quality of education and strengthen the Armed Forces by training highly qualified specialists in the field of cyber security.
The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly is working hard to harmonize the legislation of the CSTO Member States in the area of cyber security. In particular, in 2023, the CSTO adopted a model law "On Information Protection and Cybersecurity" aimed at creating a comprehensive system of legal regulation of relations in the field of information protection and cybersecurity of state information systems in the CSTO countries.
On June 3, 2024, Almaty will host a visiting session of the CSTO PA Council, where it is expected to adopt new documents on countering challenges and threats to security in the Organization's area of responsibility.
