Almaty Hosted a Meeting of the CSTO Council of Defence Ministers
Today, on May 31, Almaty hosted a meeting of the CSTO Council of Defence Ministers chaired by Kazakhstan.
The participants of the meeting discussed the military and political situation in the regions of collective security and its impact on the security of the Organization's Member States.
In addition, they reviewed and signed documents on equipping the units of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) with modern and advanced weapons and military vehicles, planning joint operational and combat training, improving the methodology of training of CSTO peacekeeping contingents, as well as on the CSTO Targeted Interstate Programme on Strengthening the Tajik-Afghan Border and a number of others.
On the eve of the meeting, the participants honored the memory of the legendary soldiers of the Great Patriotic War and laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame Memorial in the 28 Panfilov Guardsmen Park.
As you may recall, in 2024, the CSTO is chaired by the Republic of Kazakhstan. On June 3, Almaty will host a regular meeting of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
