In Armenia, Russian Pilots Practised Covering Motorized Rifle Units in the Highlands
Army aviation pilots of the Southern Military District (SMD) military base in Armenia completed a combat training mission to cover motorized rifle units at the force’s highland training ground, the press service of the Southern Military District of the Russian Defence Ministry reports.
The helicopters performed sorties to the highland training ground. There the crews practised fire support of motorized rifle units and delivery of ammunition and various military cargo in the highland and flat terrain.
In addition, the crews passed tests on the detection and recognition of various objects, moving and stationary ground targets, armoured vehicles and low-speed low-altitude flying objects.
The flights were performed both during the day and at night. Training flights involved over 100 military, engineering and technical personnel and more than 10 units of military and special equipment, including the army aviation’s Mil Mi-8MTV and Kamov Ka-52 helicopters.
