Nurlanbek Shakiev and Yerlan Koshanov Meet in Astana

On June 27, as part of the official visit of Nurlanbek Shakiev, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, to the Republic of Kazakhstan, a meeting was held with Erlan Koshanov, Chairman of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Nurlanbek Shakiev noted that the development of friendly relations with Kazakhstan is a priority for Kyrgyzstan’s foreign policy.

“As part of the friendship and strategic partnership, which has roots in centuries-old history, we need to actively develop inter-parliamentary relations to ensure legislative support for the agreements reached,” Mr Shakiev said.

The meeting also addressed the issue of holding the next meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Council.

Yerlan Koshanov, Chairman of the Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, emphasized that the newly convened Mazhilis established the first group of friendship for cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic.

“Interstate relations between our nations should be an example for other countries,” Yerlan Koshanov said.

As you may recall, Nurlanbek Shakiev and Yerlan Koshanov are members of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
