On January 25, by order of the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus, a comprehensive combat readiness check of the Armed Forces was launched under the direction of the Chief of General Staff and first deputy Defence Minister of the Republic of Belarus.
According to the website of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Belarus, the main purpose of the activities is to check and increase combat and mobilization readiness and the ability of military units to fulfill their missions in current environment.
Some military bases and units have already been tasked to switch to the highest level of combat readiness. In particular, an order has been given to reinforce one of the military units of the 120th Guards Mechanized Brigade and put it into combat readiness.
The operations will take place at practically all the proving grounds of the Armed Forces and in certain terrains. Given the specific nature of the tasks to be carried out, the troops will have to operate in a variety of conditions: overcoming water obstacles, practicing in day and night conditions, both in forested and populated areas.
Close attention will be paid to the condition of the equipment and weaponry, as well as the operation of support systems.
The check is planned to conclude by control exercises and tactical manoeuvres with live firing in different modalities.
