Meeting of Chairpersons of CSTO Parliaments' Defence Committees Began in Bishkek

Today, on September 10, the Coordination Meeting of Chairpersons of Committees (Commissions) on Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States under the CSTO PA Council started in Bishkek under the chairmanship of Rustam Shokhmurod, Chairman of the Committee on Law and Order, Defence and Security of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Ulan Primov, Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defence, Security, and Migration of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, reported on the current political and military situation in the Central Asian collective security region of the CSTO.

The participants of the meeting will discuss experience in countering international terrorism and other manifestations of extremism; ensuring public security in the fight against drug trafficking and illegal migration; border security status and measures to ensure it; customs control and a number of other topics related to collective security in the CSTO area of responsibility. 

In addition, they will discuss the draft work plan of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Parliamentary Assembly for 2025.
