CSTO sub-regional anti-drug operation in Belarus destroys a drug trafficking organization
According to the ONT TV channel’s website, a sub-regional anti-drug operation of the CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization) in the Republic of Belarus eliminated a drug trafficking тing and underground laboratories for the production of synthetic drugs.
As ONT reports, operation participants were law enforcement agencies, border and customs authorities, state security services and financial intelligence units of the CSTO Member States. More than 9,500 officers were involved in the operation, which seized about half a tonne of drugs, exposed 41 drug gangs and blocked a number of major smuggling channels.
Valery Semerikov, CSTO deputy Secretary General, said, “More than 432 kg of drugs and 26 kg of precursors were seized from the illegal trafficking, which is a very good result.”
Gennady Kazakevich, deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Belarus, said, “It is not only about the number of drugs seized, which is large. But it is also about the joint operation to destroy a drug trafficking ring and laboratories for the production of synthetic drugs.”
It is reported that joint work to strengthen cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking in the CSTO will continue.
