Cooperation on Emergency Situations Within the CSTO Discussed in Kazakhstan
On September 5, Kazakhstan hosted the XV meeting of the Coordination Council for Emergencies of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
Imangali Tasmagambetov, CSTO Secretary General, Vadim Sinyavsky, Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus, Chingis Arinov, Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Boobek Azhikeev, Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, Aleksandr Kurenkov, Minister of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Disaster Relief of the Russian Federation, and Rustam Nazarzoda, Chairman of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of Tajikistan, took part in the work of the Coordination Council.
The meeting reviewed the prospects for further cooperation with international organizations in providing assistance to victims of emergencies. In particular, the participants discussed the deployment of a network of humanitarian response centers on the territory of the CSTO Member States.
The leaders of the emergency departments of the Organization's Member States approved an action plan for the next year. Among them, in particular, there is a business game of the Secretariat, the Joint Staff and operational groups on crisis situations response of the CSTO states.
The sixteenth meeting of the Coordination Council for Emergencies of the CSTO Member States will be held next year in the Kyrgyz Republic.
As you may recall, in 2024, the CSTO is chaired by the Republic of Kazakhstan. And deepening cooperation in emergency prevention and response is one of the priorities of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the Organization.
