May 5 marks Constitution Day in Kyrgyzstan.
The Basic Law of sovereign Kyrgyzstan was first adopted by the Supreme Council on May 5, 1993.
Sadyr Japarov, President of Kyrgyzstan, congratulated his compatriots on the festive date.
"This is a holiday of our people's freedom, of strengthening our statehood, engaging in creative work and building a just and developed society," Mr. Japarov noted and added that the Constitution is of particular value, symbolizing state and civil unity.
Nurlanbek Shakiev, Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh, also congratulated Kyrgyz people on Constitution Day.
"I wish our multinational country unity, peace and prosperity! Let each of us abide by the law and serve for Kyrgyzstan's development!", said Mr. Shakiev.
